Re: Open source SNES controller PCB
Hmm... How hard would it be to go from this to replicating the functionality of the likes of, say, the Super Advantage or the Super NES Mouse? Obviously, the Super Scope 6 and/or the Lethal Enforcers light gun would be bridges too far without a return to variable output monitor tech, but if one can ...

Re: Another World (Out of this World) port for the CX16
I realize this may be too late in the cycle for this game, but it might be of use if you go on to try to port Flashback or Heart of the Alien , but perhaps there could be a way to selectively implement the FX Triangle Rasterization mode. What I mean is invoking it for areas when/where clipping is no...

Re: Cheat Sheet
Pretty good. Just please remember that VERA has a completely different memory map for the purpose of PEEKs and POKEs, you need to take into account the HIMEM and ROM/Expansion memory tranches, and Commander X16 BASIC includes extra reserved words and syntax for things like Sprite Calls, making new Y...

Re: A plea to the dev team
There are actually at least five different sets of programming tutorials for the Commander X16 on YouTube. The real problem is that, with the exception of someone working with his own hand-built C compiler which doesn't support two parallax tile fields, none of the tutorials was made (or updated) si...

Re: X16 "Official" Artwork Reveal // Win an X16
When I get all six numbers and the Power Ball, I plan to somehow bring the Nintendo SA-1 back into production. Yes, it's a surface mounted 100 pin package chip that will in no way fit the Commander X16 CPU DIP socket, and putting it on an expansion card means crowding out something else potentially ...

Re: X16 "Official" Artwork Reveal // Win an X16
My biggest problem with the official case design that can be divorced from the motherboard layout itself is that there is no room for full height expansion cards and no true backplane for them either. It's like somehow stuffing an Apple IIe or BBC Master motherboard into the case of a Bandai RX-78-2...

Re: Super Mario Bros. Special for Commander X16
Well, Super Mario Bros. Special by Hudson Soft was originally written for the NEC PC88, NEC PC98, Sharp X1 Turbo, and Fujitsu FM77 A/V. Those computers featured either the Zilog Z80, Intel X86, or Motorola 6809 as their CPU. Any codebase for any of those versions would be completely incompatible wit...

Re: X16 laptop?
I still say someone on this project should contact Framewok . If we can get a version of Phase 2 or Phase 3 motherboards to work with the 16" chassis, it would mean that it would work with the monitor without the need for interpolation. The only things it would need would be 3mm speaker/headpho...

Re: External communication with the X16 (UART, NIC, FlashAir?!)
Well, I had this idea of using the two ESP32 200MHz cores for the actual NIC element, and the 12MHz RISC-V core for stuff like babysitting VERA's blanking cycles or keeping the FX registers fed and sending the output back to VERA for rendering/display, freeing up the 65c02 for stuff like sending mor...

Re: Update upcoming VERA firmware (aka "VERA FX")
All of the sudden, the Commander X-16 goes from being the rough equal to the Sharp X-1 Turbo or the NEC PC8812/4 to better than the PC Engine/TurboGrafix-16 in terms of prowess in converting Sega, Taito, Konami, or Atari racing or behind-the-back shooter arcade games. Lookingv forward to versions of...
