Yes, Vim the clone started on the Amiga, but vi per se started on the BSD fork of UNIX. Supposedly the very PDP-11 that BSD was developed on was still marooned in some hallway at Berkeley collecting dust only a few years ago. My favorite way to edit text is with Vi(m)...


Obviously vim would be pretty beefy for an 8 bit platform, but it actually started life on the Amiga back in the day. Are there any vi clones already ported or could easily be ported to the X16?

Monitor suggestions

I am very interested in using an e-ink display (like an Amazon kindle) on a commander x16. I suspect any such monitor would be HDMI only, so I understand there would have to be a connector to VGA. Does this even make sense? Would the platform have enough muscle to do this? Even on modern platforms ...
