Re: Why not 'enhanced' Commodore 64?
You'd think there'd be some more Apple II games, though, given the relatively open architecture. Probably a little easier to keep one running than with some systems. I'm actually a bit mystified by why the Apple II isn't getting the same amount of love as the C64. I've seen a ton of new releases an...

Re: Seeking Connections
If someone has an idea for a off-platform toolchain utility and don't mind it being coded in Perl, I'd be interested in helping. I figure there's a lot I can learn by leveraging what I already know (which is literally nothing related to x16 .

Re: What would you do if you were the CEO of Commodore Computers?
I would have siphoned off 15% annually all parts/manuctured devices/printed material/digital media, packaged in humidity resistant containers, into non-descripted warehouses somewhere in North Dakota so that they may lie in wait for the day that Gen X resurrected demand - super charged with disposab...

Re: Ones own foot, and the shooting thereof.
Perl: virtually unlimited assortment of parts, most combinations make loaded guns. You usually don't realize you've shot yourself until you "use strict". "use warnings" is a lie, it should be "use been shot". And if you manage to not shoot yourself, it comes with an unl...

Re: Commander X16 2023 update
Well done. Not having this video go live on April 1st, and in fact the day before, was a wise decision. I have nightmares about cringingly hacking on old "Chicken Lips. Like finger nails in your oatmeal as someone once said about something else.

Re: Latest CX16 YT video.
I got the weirdest vibs from David's latest video. Not sure how to read this. Neither one seem happy, but both seem to need to address the we/us. The Devil is in the details. Pray for final perseverence. Most of us know the first 90% of a project is EZ. It's that last 90% that's the killer. Finish ...

Re: Beginners looking for support
Similar boat, different language choices over the years. What I am doing about it is going back to being like a child. of the 80s and doing what everyone did back then, copy in BASIC program after BASIC program until enought sneaks in through osmosis that I get it. I intend to do the same for ASM, b...

Re: networking options
Assuming networking; I would expect there to be, maximally, a lynx-like text browser and gopher:// protocol support. All that other crap is, well, crap. The gopher-verse is making a comeback. You might find an exceptional amount of excitement over this through gopher holes like the SDF unix folks.

Re: awk or perl-like userland scripting is needed
Thank you for the serious considerations here. Does this mean you are volunteering? :) Depends on "for what". I'm super excited about this programming environment and am more than happy to contribute where I am able. My expertise is not in 8 or 16 bit programming, but I am a programmer of ...

awk or perl-like userland scripting is needed
This thing is going to need a "highly" productive and workalike interpreted scripting language, as handicapped as it might be in many areas. The spirit can still be captured. I suggest the names, BERL or BAWK . Start a new thread if you want to discuss silly-talk like, BYTHON That said it'...
