Greetings From France!

Hello Everyone!

For my Introduction, it would basically just say that i'm someone born in the Mid 90's that grew up with a gameboy color as his first console and playing doom III, half-life, and total annihilation on my brother computer while i was 4, and kept the pc for basically "a console that can do more than that".

for my education, it was aimed on Mechanical engineering and technical innovation, and had recently started tinkering in programmation and electronics, as i found it goes really well with what i learned to create automatic Mechanism that i could use in my private life and help me have a wider range of thought at work.

the Commander X16 computer is attractive to me in a sense that i found it can be a really good support to create and learn in programming, and help me learn how a computer is working at it's base, and the fact it come with paper manual and that i could assemble the computer myself really give it a plus.

the second thing is this project can create a good community which is really important in keeping something alive.

so i hope this project will have the recognition it deserve as it is a really entertaining and knowledgeable one.

Bonjour,

welcome aboard what is a very good community. While it seems the peak of the forum was in 2020/2021 there is enough material here to keep one busy reading for awhile - everything from speculation, design discussions, to how to optimize programs for the platform.

The X16 design goals sound exactly what will interest you. We're all waiting for the prototype to be finished, then kits shipping. IT most likely will be awhile longer, so download the emulator and get a head-start to pass the time.

Thanks! I'm looking into it and has you said, there really is a lot of content on this forum.

I suspect that the community will have another peak when the Computer will be out, so i don't fear this much about this, what i would fear would be scalpers who would buy all the X16 and resell them at a very high price which might not allow the community to flourish as easily.

And for the time of release, i know it was hard on the team that worked on it, i hope they will receive their part from what they put into this project. From what I saw, I suspect the X16 would come out at the end of year or at the beginning of 2023, but i don't want to make hasty conclusion, I can wait for it.

Bonjour Gaulois, welcome at this forum. The X16 is a fantastic machine. It is great to learn and to go back to the "roots", but with a modern flavour to it.

Feel free to ask any question here, the people here are really friendly and polite. There are no stupid questions.
