I guess everything costs pennies. $2000 is just 200,000 pennies after all. But clearly they've spent more, if for no other reason than a large presumably non-refundable payment for keyboards that will eventually be used as part of the final product. And when you think about it, the costs so far, even if they are pennies, is a drop in the bucket compared to the eventual exposure that the project will have when buying all the parts to manufacture hundreds or thousands of computers.

As for international shipping, Frank is an international collaborator on the project so I would assume that international shipments have been made.

In the end all I have to go on is David's word that he has invested five figures. He's been honest with me in other dealings I've had with him so I have no reason to doubt him at this time. Any money spent on the project is money he would like to see returned eventually, and I don't blame him, so I'm not going to quibble over what may or may not be legitimate prototyping expenses.

It would help if David, Kevin, Michael, Frank and or others in the CX16 core group would show a sign of life on this forum. Something in the likes of "monthly update".

Even if it would be a few lines. For example, of the BOM, what is pending, what is already ordered and available? What budget gap are we taking about if any.

I would be more at ease if such info would come. One cannot expect a community to rely on one post made last year in August, and then a long mail chain of replies with feedback that all was explained, which by the way was a poll and a lot of explaining with excuses and not a confirmation of a clear direction, to deduct and be sure that the CX16 will see the life. I read the post of David as "Houston, we have a problem".

Many of this community have invested many hours.

Im happy to donate but some life signs are required. I also would like to see this project getting real.

I understand completely. That's why we have taken a pledge to ensure any information that shows up elsewhere is copied here as well. It might not be ideal or as good as reading it directly from David, but apparently it will have to do.

To be clear to anyone reading (not addressing svenvandevelde here), the ideas floating around the forums about helping out financially are not originating with David or any other member of the team. It's just something that a few of us think is potentially helpful so we advocate. No one is under any obligation to contribute, and no benefits accrue to the person that contributes except for a warm fuzzy feeling of comfort. ?

I remember discussing this last year as well, that it seems unfortunate the channels of communication that are offered on commanderx16.com do not seem to be the channels where official information/updates from the project are posted. Could you hint what are these other channels we should follow for updates? If this is the wrong place, it would be helpful to know? The website suggests FAQ and forum only for announcements, which I believe is this place. Thank you any tips.

OK, thank you. I also saw something about Discord, but I guess that is something private?

I remember the Facebook group used to be on the commanderx16.com website? If that is the primary source of information, just noting I can not find it there anymore. Thanks.

Here's the Discord link: https://discord.gg/nS2PqEC

I'll see what  I can do about creating a "social media links" thing somewhere on the site...
