Hi,

It's Duncan Munro here a.k.a. duncanamps checking in from the north of Scotland.

I'm really interested in the Commander X16 project and have always had an interest in 6502 machines since seeing the Commodore Pet when it first surfaced in the UK back in 1978. I got a chance to use them in college and developed a taste for programming in 6502 assembly at the same time - it seemed like a great way to get things done quicker ?  I continued my 6502 apprenticeship on the Apple ][, and programmed them in assembly for a living in the early/mid 80's doing mostly scientific and manufacturing applications.

Found this website through the 8 bit guy Youtube channel; it's a "must watch" channel for me and a great trip down memory lane. I'm currently working my way through the Commander X16 emulator and looking forward to buying the hardware boards when they become generally available.

Regards,

Duncan

Welcome! You've joined at an exciting time as the announcement of prototypes coming has just been made. That has sparked renewed posts here and probably other places on the internet where the X16 is being discussed.

Perhaps you could  elaborate on your commercial programming of the 6502 in a new thread. Most of us as far as I know were the home hobbiest types in the 80's just playing games (aka geeky gaming teens, or at least I speak for myself.)  I did a significant amount of industrial control systems using PLCs and such so it would be interesting to hear of adapting home hardware into the scientific & industrial space.

Hi Duncan!

I'm new to the forum, as well as new to any type of hardware programming, but I want to get into learning BASIC some point soon, and am reading up on and taking notes about Assembly Language, just to be doing it.

I was born in 83, and didn't have a PC in the house until 97, but really like every aspect of the "era" (the retro computing era).

Glad there is a large community for it online, especially here.

I found this forum through The 8 Bit Guy, as well ?

I will keep an eye out for your post on programming the 6502, if you decide to make it.

Stay well!
