Oh I had serious, painful sticker shock, and I don't think about it.  I funneled profits from my Kickstarter project to buy it.

I would consider buying it, IF there was substantial funding for the X16 project. But as I understood from @Perifractic there is very limited money flowing into the project from a sold keyboard. So I would prefer a kickstarter or whatever to help supporting the project  - maybe even a patreon page and get the money directly to the developers instead of funding someone else.

IMHO, if you are the type of person who prefers mechanical key switches, the price of the WASD keyboard is okay for what you get.

If you can live just as well with a rubber dome keyboard, it's probably not worth it.

Unfortunately (for my wallet) I just recently found out that I appear to belong to the first group.

That's the beauty of what the team has done - for those of us who like mechanicals, we have the option to buy one. But there's an affordable keyboard option out there for everyone, and it's the standard keyboard.

I do not agree ... there are a lot of Cherry keyboards available that cost either a lot less (starting with 49€) or are feature loaded under the roof (e.g. RGB lighting based on game situation and such). Not that I am looking for the later, but as I said - simply having Cherry mx on it does not justify the price, esp as the num block is not needed and it is only a 87 key keyboard. It will never get as cheap as 10$, that is okay and I would potentially even consider a 100$ ... but 200? nope not at all. I then would prefer to remove the caps from the cheap keyboard and put on any Cherry MX 87 keys keyboard.

I'm a bit surprised - can you name a keyboard with Cherry MX switches for 49€? I couldn't find anything below 100€ when I last looked for one.

But the TKL one does indeed look quite nice.

Still, compared to what else is out there, for a custom printed Cherry MX keyboard that is not mass manufactured (I believe they build it especially for each order, right?) $200 (roughly 170€) is not too much.
