Hardware Which monitor to use with hardware CX16?

Post by encw »

I have a pre-order for a batch 2 computer in February of next year, and I'd like to know about the choices people are making for their monitor.

Newly manufactured monitors don't come in 640x480 fullscreen. I'm concerned that a 1920x1080 monitor would stretch the image. What is the best resolution for a new monitor, and what are batch 1 owners doing with their CX16s?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I bought an older cctv lcd with 1280x960 on eBay. That fits perfectly. On AliExpress you sometimes find new ones in this format.
But even with modern monitors it can work as long as they support 4:3 integer scaling. But you have to study manuals to be sure of that.

Pretty much any new flat-screen monitor will automatically adjust itself to display the X16 screen with the correct aspect ratio. However, a 16:9 widescreen will of course have black bars to left and right since the X16 screen is 4:3. Personally, I do not object to the black bars and they pretty much fade from my consciousness. I know others will not care for them. I have never seen a modern 4:3 monitor and don't know if they are still made.
