I have never really gotten used to these modern SNES controllers so I created an Atari to SNES adapter.
Now muscle memory helps me out when playing all those cool games on the Commander X16.

If you turned that into a finished product, I be first to buy one.

Re: Atari2SNES
I have actually just redesigned the PCB to make it a lot smaller. I was thinking about adding PCB mounted plugs for both the DB9 and the SNES controller. The issue is that if I add normal PCB mounted SNES connectors, I would need a cable with the same type of plug in both ends and I can not find that.
I could create my own, but I think in the end, it will be easier and cheaper to just solder the wire for the SNES connector and add the PCB mounted DB9.
I will update when I have the new PCB up and running.

I'm guessing this only works with games that don't use more than the directional pad and one action button...JimmyDansbo wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2024 4:19 am I have actually just redesigned the PCB to make it a lot smaller. Re: Atari2SNES
That is correct.
It works with Super Mario Brothers because I am able to map the ATARI UP to the SNES B while having the trigger/action map to Y

Re: Atari2SNES
Just a thought: If the plugs are the only issue, perhaps you could out-source that to someone who could 3D print them. Check Thingiverse.com, they have all kinds of components available. Never know.JimmyDansbo wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2024 4:19 am I would need a cable with the same type of plug in both ends and I can not find that.
Re: Atari2SNES
Did you find time to finish redesigning this Jimmy?
Have you tested it with your Uzebox? This is actually pretty ideal for IKD to give a more realistic Combat experience, having to fight your joystick too
I have created a new topic on the Uzebox forum for SNES <-> Atari adapters:

Re: Atari2SNES
I did finish the redesign and here it is:
For now, I just have 4 spare PCBs and components...
It works fine on X16, but I have not been able to test in Uzebox as it seems I have killed mine :-/
Compared to the prototype, this one is much smaller and much sturdier as the DB9 is mounted to the PCB.
I am thinking that it should be fairly easy to design a 3D printed box around the PCB, but I don't have a 3D printer or knowledge about how to design such things...For now, I just have 4 spare PCBs and components...

Re: Atari2SNES
That is much more compact.
Sad to hear your Uzebox has died, do you know whats wrong with it?
I can send you the latest Uzebox Omega PCB if you want to build another.

Re: Atari2SNES
I am not sure what has happened with it.
It died when I had it with me to Retro Computing Fest in the spring.
The Power LED turns on for about half a second and then turns off again. This is the case when power is connected or when reset button is pressed.
I would not mind building a new one, but I am not sure how much time I will be able to spend on developing for the UzeBox...
