Speaking about Mars, the very first thing I will do when DOS gets emulated on the X16 is to play DOOM

If you want a CLI, though it's more Unix-like, I use https://github.com/irmen/cx16shell

There's another one being worked on also I think? I'm not aware of anyone making a DOS style shell though. As Tom points out, Monarch OS was a project but I think it hasn't been touched in quite a while.

If you want actual CP/M or DOS badly enough, I think it might be a challenge you might have to undertake and it would be quite an undertaking. If you want a DOS-like experience, X16 now has Codepage 437 support if you want to have the DOS text-mode tiles.

Doesn't Totodilespy on the Discord have a CX16OS project going on? Did I already mention that in this thread? It's 3 pages long... tl;dr.

DesertFish's cx16shell is very much an "operating environment" type of shell. It supports native applications. Totodilespy's project is an OS with its own non-KERNAL internals and API/ABI.
