** Original Post:
FYI, the US President just signed a sweeping tariff measure that will affect the cost of nearly all goods imported into the US.
I don't have all of the information yet, but here's what I do have:
All imports will have a new tariff of at least 10%. This is an additional tax, imposed on top of whatever you pay for the item.
While the list is pretty extensive, the highest tariffs appear to be:
- China: 67%
- EU: 39%
- Vietnam: 90%
- Taiwan: 64%
- Japan: 46%
- India: 52%
- South Korea: 50%
- Thailand: 72%
- Switzerland: 61%
- Indonesia: 64%
- Malaysia: 47%
- Cambodia 97%
Of note, imports from the UK will be charged at the baseline rate of 10%. This means the Lazer 3D cases will be 10% more expensive.
How will I pay the tariff
At present, we expect individual customers will have to pay the tariffs to their shipping company or to US Customs. When an incoming package passes through customs, the declared value on the package will be used to assess an import duty. You'll get a letter in the mail asking for an additional charge to release your package.
It is important to note that there are scammers out there sending fake messages that resemble the ones you'll receive from the shipping companies. Make sure to keep your tracking numbers and confirm the tracking number against the actual package you're expecting. Also confirm that the URLs on any received messages actually go to the actual shipping company's web site or to the US Customs or Treasury web site. (In other words, follow all the usual anti-phishing practices.)
I'm going to keep this thread open to allow people to discuss their experiences with the import process and discuss the tariff rates and payment procedures.
Thanks, everyone.
