This thread made me go look up a bunch of videos on book binding; I had no idea it was something regular people could do with regular stuff and not fancy equipment.

It’s a term for activities you do to “prepare for” the thing you actually want to do.
In this case, I want to be playing with writing software for the X16; but I felt like I needed a physical manual. So I did that first. But also I wasn’t actually doing the main thing the whole time, so it’s a kind of… productive procrastination.

Yeah! It’s weirdly normal! Thread, glue… that’s mostly it. You can use thick cardboard from cereal boxes for the covers, and any kind of paper or fabric to make the covers look nicer.
It even took less time than I assumed it would—less than a day of work in total, though split across two days to allow the glue to dry better.

She also did MASSIVE books for Brandon Sanderson’s “Way of Kings” books more recently! Sometime this year I want to try some leather shaping like she does for binding another book of some kind.
