From what I have seen these machines could not do much like a modern computer. I don't know if it is the lack of logic circuits or data bandwidth. I don't even thing a modern fpga could do what I imagine.
In the abstract, 8bit systems built with real 8bit CPU's can do many of the things a modern computer can, but not everything, and what they can do, they can't always do them LIKE a modern computer does them.
Bear in mind from the specifications that the design team HOPES to have the 65c02 running at 8MHz, are as they would say today, "an 8MHz single core 8bit processor". The Raspberry Pi Zero-W has a 1GHz single core processor, which is to say it is 125 times faster, and if that is a 32bit CPU, 500 times the raw bandwidth, and with fewer clocks per instruction the effective bandwidth gap is still higher.
But no single person knows and understands all the different parts that go into the RPi0.

I am glad that people are thinking outside of the box and making petscII videos as they are neat.
I have made a couple of videos on the X16 but I'm going to have to change my method; these work in the emulator but I'm going to have to change them to something similar to double petscii to get this working on the actual hardware:

Great work ED. I think this is the best yet. If it is similar to double petscII can you just have a program that converts files through some 8 bit or analog signal video or can you do 4 channel signal like something from 8 track simultaneously to get a composite video clip if analog or are you using a better digital puzzle system better than petscII or digital compression ? Or it is just a very low resolution video? Similar to say a low res video and audio out of the vcr signals? But I did find this.

What I first thought was you had two to three channels of analog signal or petscII or what have you for video with one or two channels to do an audio stream in a quirky multiplex composite where each clock cycle ran one of four channels so fast that it tricks the eye and ears or a hacking past the processor to the video and sound chips directly with timing from the main processor with some analog timing trick.

So the commander X16 must have a bit better sound then the c64. But I guess it had to be similar to this?

Found some more neat stuff but commodore 64 I think. I doubt they have a playable version of this game but still not bad for an 8 bit pic I think?

Oh. So this is just a giant feature request thread.
The VERA's design is final and it's only changes are bugfixes.
May I ask why this question was pulled into this discussion? I honestly feel that previously asked questions are completely put out of context here. I'm sorry but if members of the community are not respected when asking questions and expressing their opinion, then how can this community thrive?
Just remember that there are people living in this world that may not be as smart and as great as many on this forum. So those people have a learning curve.
On top, just remember that people asking stupid questions may actually be people very interested in the machine, and working hard and trying to make a great piece of code. Positively contributing to this community.
So please accept my sincere apologies for having asked these questions and having learned from it.
I thought we were all friends here.

My message was not addressed to you Travis. It was meant to be in general. I think your question demonstrated your creativity. Please don't feel limited asking your questions and ideas.
