Hello my Name is Roy Eltham. I've been a long time subscriber and patreon(patron?) of The 8bit Guy. I've been following the X16 project ever since David first started talking about the project on his videos, and with the latest update I decided to join in here and also support the project with a donation to the fund.  Not sure if it helps but I ordered one of the fancy mechanical keyboards so then when I can buy my own X16 I've have it.  Everything about the X16 is exactly what I wanted in a spiritual successor to the C64/128.   The board looks fantastic, and the fancy keyboard is deluxe! Nice job Mr. Fractic.

I grew up learning to program on the VIC-20, C64, and C128. I coded in BASIC and 6502 ASM back then. I eventually got an Amiga 500 (later a 2500) and learn C/C++ on that.  I still code in C++ today as my job working in online computer games. Our company uses Unreal Engine 5, and I program for that in C++, Blueprint, and Python (a little).  I'd love to have a modern 8bit computer setup to program retro games on, and I think the X16 will fit perfectly. I've downloaded the emulator and a bunch of the games/programs to examine and play with when I find time. It does have to share my free time with my other hobby, Model Railroading.

Anyway, I'll be starting to participate here on the forums as I learn the X16 via the emulator, so I'll see you around.

Welcome Roy! It's exciting times in the X16 community; expect it to go exponential when the prototypes ship. There is an investment to make in programming for the X16 - while retro it does have some modern features that do take time to learn. It is a hobby computer which is now closer to shipping.
