I recently got a Steam Deck, and I thought I’d try the Commander X16 emulator on it.
this is my first attempt, using the precompiled Linux binary. As you can see, it works out of the box and seems to perform the basic functions just fine.
to run the emulator, I had to switch to Desktop mode. To get there, you just have to press the Steam button, go to Power, and select Desktop mode. This shuts down the Steam UI and goes to a desktop interface. From there, downloading and running the emulator works like any other console program.
now to spend some time with various programs and see how it performs, relative to my desktop PC…
