Hello adventurers!I’m a 43 year old upstate New York kid with overwhelming nostalgia for 80’s computing. My first computer was a Commodore 64, and I remember how magical and limitless computers felt back then, a new frontier to be explored.
These days I’m building an online show/game, role playing old school style text adventures with myself as “the Last Computer” of the Great Underground Empire, my friends as the Players giving me commands while we role play the games.
So I’ve been shopping eBay for more and more retro computer and text adventure nostalgia, Zork maps, Infocom feelies, and started shopping old C64’s and 1541 drives, etc. I thought about using old broken ones as props in my computer studio area, but now more and more I want to get a working setup so I can play around as a grown up who could actually understand BASIC instead of just writing endless GOTO and input string variable spaghetti code like I used to.
Anyways, Google News got a hold of my cookies and told me about the X16, and here I am! I like the idea of programming old school on modern tech and really enjoyed browsing the Downloads forum to see what you amazing people have already come up with.
So, thanks for having me and very nice to meet you!
