I responded to a private message but my response is just sitting in my outbox (has been for a few days). I'm not sure if it actually sent and I don't see an option to finalize/send it. What am I missing? Thanks!

It shows in your outbox until the person you messaged reads it.

If you check, that person probably hasn't logged in since before you sent the message. This gives you the opportunity, should you so desire, to remove a message before it's read. (Useful if the message is overtaken by events or if it's something you decide later you wish you hadn't said.)
