Can you change the sizing of the user names in the Forum entries ?

The six in the character set is hardly readable as a six.

Thanks,

Olaf.

@CBMFan66 is right. "6" looks definitely like "G" at 100% site zoom. At 110% zoom it's ok. I always used 125% zoom, so never noticed.

Thank you for the feedback. I've had a look at this with page fully zoomed out and also zoomed in to your screen name I'm sorry but on my two devices I really cannot see an issue. Even if it is an issue on some resolutions/devices, as fixing this would be a lot of work (changing characters within a web standard font), which equates to time and expense, is not something we can prioritize right now. Thank you for your understanding.3b60e81c58d5c565264d4c4d84caf7e9.jpg82943c62130dfb8a38d703fd167a6db4.jpg

I understand if the forum software makes it difficult to adjust the font size setting from 10px to, say, 12px, but I do want to show you exactly what's going on for these guys (and me as well):

image.png.5dfaf164f216e2fdb97ccd78ca16c239.png

Screen captures of the name, resized to 500% using nearest-neighbor to preserve aliasing. Note that the horizontal bar in the "66" is almost impossible to read at 100% zoom. This is on Firefox 84.0.2 (64-bit), running on Windows 10 Pro (build 1909).

Firefox is getting the 10px font size from the style element h3.cAuthorPane_author.

I know adjusting zoom level is a hack, but it does work around the issue, as in the lower example in my screenshots. I'm sure a Greasemonkey or Tampermonkey script would be able to manage a local fix as well that doesn't require fiddling with the zoom level of the browser.

Edit: The base culprit seems to be ClearType text on Windows platforms. Disabling it (open the Windows menu and search for "Adjust ClearType text") will show the text behavior that Peri is seeing, which is clearly readable.

I would agree that it seems to be an issue with clear type. I tested on Mac and Android devices. Increasing the font size may be a solution but we chose the font size for a reason. I'm not sure we want it any bigger as it is already somewhat large and would look overly large. if this was a issue that had been reported more than this one time in the past (nearly a) year including the website beta, that would be different.

I will also add that it looks great on mobile, and I'm sure the same goes for Apple phones.

I would propose as a solution increasingly your browser zoom by one notch, or disabling clear type, or living with this very small issue in the big scheme of things, or even changing the username to SixtySix [emoji4]

Yes, but then everything else in any other software looks "blocky" in comparison ?. Unfortunately the CSS parameters "font-smooth" or "-webkit-font-smoothing" were dropped from the CSS3 specs/drafts. Otherwise "-webkit-font-smoothing: none" would have been the solution. I just tried: Chrome, Opera and Firefox ignore the parameter, even though they know it exists...

So 110% zoom is the solution for me - I didn't notice the issue, because my aging eyes need 125 anyway...

Same here. If I try read this forum with zoom lower than 125%, my eyes cry... ?

Fortunately I can adjust different zoom level for each site, and browser remembers the setting per site. ?

Yes - it's not just this forum, unfortunately it's most websites.

OT: I now even start having an issue with my car, because Tesla decided to make the speedometer font smaller ?... It may look more "elegant" now, but well... Back in the old days with analoge instruments, with the position of the needle you knew what speed you were going. Now it's in writing only - refocusing and reading on a glance just doesn't work well above 50...

I know I'm late, but I want to point out that when you don't have the fancy font installed on your pc, the profile name font is ridiculously small and hard to read:

207704289_smallfontsize.png.71e8f9706314976ebaef173382ae1d1d.png

So you basically have to use your own theme or it's unreadable without zooming ?, but even then the rest of the font size is normal so you end up with text that is too big.

BTW, at that size, OP's username looks like it ends with funny 8s instead of 6s, which is what he might have been referring to.
